Bill I had a great time diving at Alton\'s which was cool as I was scared and my mummy doesn\'t let me do rad things like that on my own. E. Chino taught me how to do some sick dives off the dock, and Chris (The Big Dipper) helped me home when some nasty people made me drink too much rum one night through a snorkel.

Welcome to Alton's Divemaster Pages
The only professional PADI and NAUI facility in Caribbean
Considering a move to the professional level of diving clearly means that you are a motivated and enthusiastic diver. You will find professional training both challenging and rewarding and can open the door to a career break or career change. We recognize that your divemaster training is more than simply another certification. To be a successful divemaster in today's competitive dive industry you will need to be knowledgeable, flexible, experienced, and skillful. At Alton's we aim to deliver all of this and more, and those of you who have been diving with us before will know all about our famous welcoming and friendly atmosphere. You'll find all the details here in these pages.
At Alton's Dive Center we
believe that the combination of training with experienced instructors, in a
lively and busy dive shop with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere,
together with Utila's world class diving, is unbeatable.
The
divemaster certification is the first step on the way to become a dive
professional. As a certified and active dive master
you are able to work in a number of areas including leading scuba
divers on dives, conduct scuba review or refresher programs for
certified divers, assist instructors in all training courses up to and
including dive master itself. Working on live aboards, dive resorts, and at
dive centers around the world becomes a realistic possibility. And of course you always have the opportunity to work with us after you have completed your training - we look to our own divemaster program for divemasters who wish to
work with us on completion of their course. Our philosophy is that we
require a professional level of service for our fun divers and we
believe that it is only fair to pay those divemasters for that work. As
a consequence we have one of the best, if not the best, fun diver
service on the island. This gives you a great opportunity to kick off
your dive career and also help you to cover your expenses as you gain
experience.
Even if you don't wish to work with us after your training all the divemaster packages come with Alton's Divemaster Experience
Program and either free specialties or cost price (staff price)
specialties to help boost your experience level and your diving resumé.
As a divemaster in training we want you to get as much experience as possible. Rather than simply deliver the required training we also offer you as many dives for free as you can fit in around your scheduled training. So if you are doing nothing else and there is available space then buddy up with another divemaster and go diving!
And let's not forget that it is a lot of fun to train as Divemaster. At Alton's not only do we aim to deliver the highest quality and most complete professional training, we also aim to give you a good time in the process!

Take
a look at the individual divemaster packages we offer just below. There
should be something there for everyone, whatever your dive experience.
As a divemaster (in training or working with us) you are in the best position to encounter whale sharks. You are out on the boats a lot either with fun divers, students or simply heading out for a fun dive yourself. The pictures above show the whale shark coming into a vertical position in food rich waters to eat as much as it can.
Run over a 2 to 5 week period the PADI Divemaster comes with 3 specialties for free (Deep Diver, Wreck Diver and Nitrox Diver) plus 2 further specialties at cost. The PADI divemaster is a great course for those that are familiar with the PADI system and want to take their diving to the next level. During this course you will complete all recreational dive theory as well organize and conduct dives and assist instructors in the training of students at Open Water, Advanced and Rescue diver levels over a number of courses. The PADI course has a greater emphasis on assisting dive training than the NAUI course.
NAUI Worldwide is the most respected, largest non-profit diver training
organization in the world. Run over 2 to 3 weeks the divemaster course includes 3 specialties for free (Deep Diver, Wreck Diver and Nitrox Diver) plus 2 further specialties at cost. The NAUI divemaster course has more emphasis on dive logistics and dive leading than the PADI course and in your training you will organize and conduct a number of dives in different situations (including boat dives, shore dives and night dives). As well as this you will assist at least one instructor during a training session for an Open Water or Scuba Diver class. If you are familiar with NAUI training this is the program for you.
Ideal for those who don't have the training or experience to start the divemaster straightaway but are interested in a career change or break, or simply want to get the divemaster rating as simply as possible. These packages come with a few different accommodation options and can take you from a beginner to professional.
The ONLY PADI and NAUI training facility in the Caribbean. We can deliver one course that will certify you in the world's two biggest professional dive agencies. Great if you want the maximum flexibility or you want what we consider to be the best and most comprehensive divemaster course available anywhere!
